Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only celebrity to have crossed from country into the mainstream and then to be an international icon of pop culture. Swift has shed her roots in the country as if she was shedding skins for second purposes, revealing herself to be the most savvy pop singer/songwriter in her generation. She is able to tap into the current trend and create her own. This was evident in her early songs, particularly on the neo pay homage towards Tim McGraw. On her 2nd album, Fearless (2008), Swift revealed a singer/songwriter who was beginning to get acquainted with her. Fearless went on to become a global hit, not only in North America (where it earned with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") but in Canada, Australia, the U.K. and many other countries. Swift soared to the top of the charts after the release of Speak Now. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), Swift's popularity grew and she found herself in a world of pop music where it was clear that she deserved to be. While she reduced her work with folklore and Evermore releases in 2020 she was still in the forefront of pop music.
